SpotLight Dance Company's Staff

SpotLight Dance Company is proud of our Professional Instructors. Each one


brings their own creativity, ideas, professionalism, and personalities to make an


absolutely awesome team of instructors! They create their own choreography for


their classes, performances, and competitions.



Our classes are taught by professionally trained, friendly, ADULT Instructors.


 

We have assistants to the Instructors in most classes. Our Junior Instructors are


very talented and responsible students.



Mrs Kimberleigh Mosteller Dodson

Owner, Director


Ms Kimberleigh is the founder and owner of  SpotLight Dance Company. She Directs, Choreographs, & Instructs many of the classes at SLDC. You will find her teaching Clogging, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Cheer,  or any other genre. 

Ms Kim began her formal dance education at the age of 2. She loved clogging from the beginning when she met Burton Edwards at the Stompin' Grounds in Maggie Valley. She has had many opportunities to further her dance education; including studying Irish Step Dance under the direction of Carl Drake. She performed this genre in the Macy's Parade. 

Besides dancing in the Macy's Parade, a few of her favorite venues she has performed at; is in Las Vegas, Ghost Town, and the Chick Fil A Bowl. Of course there have been many others!

She has won many titles for all genres of dance both regional and national. She holds the honorable awards of American Clogging Hall of Fame's Team of the Decade, American Clogging Hall of Fame SR Team, North Carolina Clogging Association All Star and many others.

She choreographs for solos, duos, talent shows, weddings, anniversaries, etc. 

Ms Kim has taught and choreographed  in dance workshops in Tennessee, North Carolina, & South Carolina. 

Ms Kimberleigh is proficient in Makeup, Hair, and Photography. See our Photos by Kim page for more info.     
 She is available for pageant coaching.  Ms Kimberleigh has held many titles beginning in the Little Miss SC Titles when she was young. She has held OverAll Miss Ultimate Starz and OverAll Miss EPIC titles as well. 

Kimberleigh has been married for 8 years to Byron and they have one daughter Kaedance Clarke. 



 

Mrs Amanda Claire Burnette Mays

Ballet Program Instructor

Ms Amanda is our Ballet Program Director. She directs, choreographs, and instructs for  our competition Ballet Company and all recreational classes in Pointe, Ballet, & Tap.  

                                                                                            Ms Amanda began dancing at the age of 5 at Athens School of Ballet in Georgia. She studied Cecchetti style ballet within the school’s ballet company until moving to Clemson, SC at the age of 15. Ms Amanda continued studying ballet while also  branching out into tap, jazz, lyrical and Martha Graham’s technique of modern dance at Foothills Dance Conservatory in Seneca and Fain School of Dance.


 She was accepted to and attended the South Carolina Governor’s School of the Arts and Humanities Summer Honors Program at the age of 17 where she spent the summer learning from top professional dancers and performing in their showcase.


After high school she attended Winthrop University where she received her B.A. in Dance in 2006. While at Winthrop she studied classical ballet, many forms of modern dance, and choreography.


Ms Amanda performed in many faculty shows and student showcases while also choreographing for student showcases as well. Winthrop opened many doors in working with amazing guest artists and faculty, including Mary Beth Thompson, Sandra Neels (who danced with Merce Cunningham), the Amy Marshall Dance Company, and many, many others throughout her four years at Winthrop. Amanda received her M.A. in Teaching from Kaplan University in 2010.


She has always enjoyed dancing, but her real passion is expressing her love for dance through teaching .


Ms Amanda was recently married to the 'Love of Her Life' Phillip! 

Mr Brandon Banks

Instructor of Gymnastics Program

Mr Brandon is our program director for Tumbling, Acro, and Gymnastics at SLDC. He is also the instructor of our IronMan Acro Competition Teams . He works closely with other instructors to bring Acro into different dance genres.


He received his earlier gymnastics training from Blue Ridge Gymnastics Academy. He has many years of training, both recreationally and competitively. Mr Brandon competed in the gymnastics circuit and won many awards, including Gold Medals in Vault and Gold Medals in Floor. He is an 8 time Gymnastics Medalist.


While attending North Greenville University, Mr Brandon continued his gymnastics training. It gave him more agility for playing on the North Greenville University Football Team.


More Recently, Mr Brandon has been training with USA Gymnastics and has received his certifications from this prestigious organization. This makes SLDC the only facility in our area to offer a USA Gymnastics Certified Instructor!

 

He is experienced in teaching many different ages and levels. He enjoys working with children, teens, and adults. His friendly nature endears him to everyone he meets.


Mr Brandon is also a former EMT in Spartanburg County.      In addition to teaching  at SLDC, Brandon is the pastor of The Bottom Line Ministries and is employed by  Downtown Greenville Airport.


 

Stella Nicole Ferguson

Cheer Program Coach/Instructor

Ms Stella Nicole has studied dance her entire life. She has studied all genres from Pointe to Clogging. She continues her dance education, like all SLDC Instructors, at dance conventions and workshops. 


Ms Stella is a multi-title holder in many genres of dance both with her team, Lethal Explosion and Choreographed Solos. She was awarded the title of All American Clogging Hall of Fame, USDP All Starz Teams, and NCCA All Star.


She has participated in and placed in numerous talent and beauty pageants including the title of OverAll Miss Epic, OverAll Miss Ultimate Starz, &  OverAll Miss SpotLight.


Ms Stella teaches classes, a wide variety of classes and substitutes for other instructors as well. 


Ms Stella is familiar with all aspects of SLDC and can even be found in the office!


She received her degree in photography & previously studied interior design. 


Ms Stella is engaged and plans to be married soon. 

Mr Cole Reynolds

Lyrical / Contemporary Instructor

Mr Cole began his dance career at a very early age. He continued in college with a double major from Winthrop in Dance and Business.
He is proficient in all genres of dance and has won many awards. 
He is creative and energetic!



Mr Cole is also the owner of ColeThad Realty Associates. 


Ms Mimi Morris

Musical Theatre Instructor

Ms Mimi has proven her creativity with her Musical Theatre classes.  SLDC Musical Theatre Company Troupe recently won the honors of "Most Entertaining" at a regional competition in TN. 

Ms Mimi has been dancing her entire life. She has been a Junior Instructor at SLDC for several years and is the youngest Instructor ever to be hired by SLDC!

Ms Mimi is trained in Clogging, Pointe, Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Theatre. She not only continues classes at SpotLight, but at national dance workshops.

She is a graduate of Easley High School and is continuing her education at Greenville Tech. 

Ms Mimi holds the titles of OverAll Miss SpotLight, American Clogging Hall of Fame, NCAA  All Star, Role Model of the Year from Ultimate Starz Productions,  and many other prestigious  awards for both team and solo dances.

Along with teaching at SLDC, Mimi is a Crew Trainer at McDonald's and sometimes models for  I See You Beautiful Photography Studio.

Substitute Instructors ~ If we have an Instructor who must be absent, we do all we can to keep their class running smoothly. If we are unable to have one of our own Professional Instructors take over the class, we will have a guest substitute.
